Sundance delves into the magnetic forces of desire, idealization, and companionship, all encapsulated within the metaphor of the sun and its profound, paradoxical influence. It portrays the complex dance between beings and the "light" they long for. This light—symbolizing truth, power, and revelation—becomes both the giver of life and the harbinger of destruction. Through animation I wanted to create a living painting that shifts and transforms, much like our perception of the world does when light reveals.
The visual elements don’t directly translate to what the poem speaks, I wanted this piece to feel like a moment of discovery to the viewers. The way light moves in the animation isn’t just an effect—it’s a presence, shifting between revealing and obscuring. It’s about the in-between state of knowing and not knowing.
At the heart of Sundance is a self-written poem, a reflection on personal experiences and observations of the world, translated into moving imagery. The piece is brought to life through a dynamic interplay of static and animated elements, deepening the contrast between permanence and transformation. A lush soundscape weaves through the installation, layering atmospheric textures with the emotional cadence of the work, immersing the viewer in a sensory meditation on longing, pursuit, and consequence.
